Ai-Chi Water Meditation for the ADHD Brain
I started taking an Ai-Chi water class at a local gym once a week and it has been amazing for my emotional health. It is based on Tai Chi and Qi Gong both ancient meditation practices. I love the low impact repetitive movements in water instead of the similar Tai Chi practiced on land.
I also love the way my favorite instructor leads the meditation over the 45 minutes to gently encourage us to breathe in the good and let go of the past.
We are instructed to surround ourselves with different colors of light like emerald green for the heart chakra, symbolizing economic and emotional health or white light for protection.
We visualize sending love to one special someone in our lives who may be hurting or need help with clarity. Or loving ourselves and forgiving ourselves for our own faults and transgressions.
Near the end of the hour she has us turn around in place to symbolize letting go of the past, it is over, we can’t change it. As we turn back to face forward she prompts us to let go of the future. We know not what will come. The only moment we can concern ourselves with is the present. Be here now echos through my head.
I swear by the end of the hour my hands are tingling and my mind is healed and my heart is pumping away happily oxygenated for possibly the first time that week. It is truly restorative.
